Gibson Les Paul 1978 Deluxe-Standard Conversion • CreamTone Vintage Design

$ 2,399.00

If you've been waiting for a Les Paul with a ton of vintage mojo, meet your new best friend!

We took this Gibson Les Paul 1978 Deluxe-Standard Conversion on trade and overhauled it with our lightly aged hardware and plastic parts, along with our A3 Deluxe pickups and harness made with authentic vintage Bumblebee capacitors. Each piece is handcrafted in the USA for best quality and performance.

This is one of the cleanest Deluxe conversions we have ever seen. It was done by Adam Johnston at AMJ Guitars in Canada, who has done work for Paul Stanley of KISS. After converting the pickup routes for full-size humbuckers, he shot the area with black nitro and blended it into the original black finish. He also filled in some extra tuner screw holes on the back of the headstock and blended in a fresh coat of nitro. It's an amazing job, absolutely seamless, visible only under a black light.

It screams mojo with lots of authentic play wear, but there are no breaks or cracks. It weighs 9.9 pounds. Inside the control cavity, you'll find that previous owners have been signing and dating it since the 70s. We've added CreamTone to the collection, so be sure to write your name as well when you receive it to carry on this decades-long tradition.

The neck on this one is outstanding—very thin and easy to play. The nut, frets and finish are all original, along with the Gibson-branded Schaller tuners. The rest of the guitar is pure CreamTone! We chose the following parts to bring out the character of this vintage instrument:

  • A3 Deluxe pickups in vintage white
  • Vintage Drifted Bumblebee harness
  • Plastic package includes our LIX Patina custom speed knobs, jack plate, poker chip, toggle tip, engraved Deluxe truss rod cover, pickguard with aged Gibson rings, and original back plates
  • Hardware package includes our LIX Patina nickel ABR-1 bridge installed with our new Kalamazoo Conversion kit, lightweight aluminum tailpiece, switch nut, and Grover strap lock buttons that are compatible with Schaller strap locks.

A black, well-worn, but fully functional Gibson USA Joe Perry case is included along with a CreamTone COA and build sheet, and a new owner's manual and warranty card from our stash (because case candy is cool!). The guitar has been set up with new Ernie Ball Slinky 10-46 strings and dialed in to play like a dream. Of course, things can settle a bit during shipping and minor adjustments may be necessary when you unpack it.

This is an opportunity to own a 40-year-old vintage Les Paul for less than the price of a new Traditional at the big-chain stores. But unlike those, this is a very special and unique instrument you’ll be proud to take on stage night after night.
