Bridge Stabilizing Set for Gibson ABR-1 • Absolute Vintage Collection • LIX Patina Nickel

LIX is the Roman numeral for 59. Even though this set is brand new, it has the look of well-worn pieces from that era.

The factory studs on the vintage and Historic ABR-1 bridges screw directly into the wood on the top of the body. They're made of brass and they only go 1/2 inch deep into the wood. Over the years, tension from the strings and years of playing can cause the posts to bend. They also tend to wear into the wood causing the holes to enlarge to the point that the bridge becomes unstable and difficult to keep in tune. We've encountered this often in our shop and our customers agree that we've come up with the ideal solution!

This set will not only stabilize your bridge but it will improve your tone and increase sustain because it incorporates what's affectionately known in the Les Paul community as the MapleFlame Mod. The old studs are replaced with studs that are longer so that a full inch screws into the body. This allows for more efficient transfer of sound from the strings to the body.

The set includes a two 1-1/2 inch studs and four brass thumbwheels. It is available in two configurations:

• Standard - Includes stainless steel studs which add strength and brighten the tone of the guitar, and our standard thin wheels. While not completely vintage correct, these thin brass wheels are still a tremendous improvement over the thick steel wheels found on most Historics. Made with existing tooling, these wheels are an affordable option for players on a budget who still demand top-shelf parts.

• Absolute Vintage - Includes vintage-correct, nickel-plated brass studs and our TruVintage thumbwheels, made exclusively by CreamTone and Mark's Guitar Loft with our own custom-made tooling. These are exact replicas of the wheels used on the original Bursts and are suitable for the restoration of vintage guitars.

Both sets include a stainless steel nut, lock washer and wing nut for installing the studs, and a #35 drill bit*. This bit makes a perfectly sized hole so that the new studs self-tap as they're installed.
