Luthier-built Single-cut Burst Replica • Handcrafted by Sammy Smith

$ 5,899.00

This gorgeous guitar was handcrafted by Alabama luthier Sammy Smith in 2017. Sammy is well known as owner and principal designer of Smith Custom Amplifiers.

The guitar features a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, Honduras mahogany body, a stunning USA flame maple top, and jumbo frets.

The neck was measured from Ed King's famous "Red Eye" 1959 Burst, which is now owned by Jason Isabell.. Ed was fond of this guitar and liked it better than the Gibson C.F. they sold for 11k.

A few years ago we ran a contest on Facebook to find the best top out there. The prize was $500 in CreamTone parts. This beauty was the winner! And we were proud to offer it for sale when Sammy called.

Featuring Wizz pickups and rings, along with other Wizz and CreamTone parts, this beast is ready to rock stadiums!

It has been played by not only Ed King, but also by Don Felder of the Eagles, Ted Nugent, Scott Bernard (Kenny Loggins), and Brent Wilson (Trace Adkins).

The finish is all nitrocellulose, hand-sanded and polished. The logo on the headstock is screened just like the originals. The nut and tuner bushings are from an original 1957 Gold Top that Ed gave to Sammy, so it is the real 6/6 nut everyone is after.

The body is made from two pieces of the lightest mahogany and weight-relieved for a featherweight instrument that weighs out around 8 pounds. Vintage-taper pots and PIO capacitors deliver every ounce of tone from the Wizz pickups. Headstock shows checking on the front.

Includes a CreamTone build sheet outlining the origin of every part on the guitar.

*Please note that the back of the guitar photographs red, although in person it is more of a natural finish.
