In the 50s, Gibson used Sprague Bumblebee capacitors in their guitars. They look nothing like the cheap caps found in most modern guitars. They’re gorgeous little hand-painted black bullets, and many of them are still in great working order. We use nothing but these vintage beauties in our CreamTone harnesses for Gibson and Fender guitars.
Since these vintage capacitors are becoming scarce, we buy them in lots as often as possible. We test them and choose the ones that are perfect for our harnesses, but we also come across several that aren't usable as tone caps for electric guitars. No one in our shop would dream of tossing them in the trash, and they’re too good-looking just to let them pile up in a parts bin, so what to do?
Wear them!
Introducing ToneWear™, a collection of fine necklaces designed by CreamTone and handcrafted with authentic vintage Sprague capacitors right here in our shop!
Our chains are made from stainless steel. We wanted to create a piece of top-shelf jewelry that was strong enough to wear onstage. We also wanted to keep the price reasonable. Stainless steel is the perfect choice. Our chains contain absolutely no nickel, so they won’t cause a toxic reaction. A stainless lobster clasp keeps it secure around your neck.
Each piece of ToneWear is a one-of-a-kind work of art. Since the old capacitors were painted by hand, every one has its own unique character. Sizes vary, usually depending on the voltage rating of the capacitor. Your Bumblebee will be selected based on our stock on hand. Chain length is 24 inches.
Each necklace comes attractively packaged with a wallet-sized COA. Handcrafted in USA.
